When you’re looking to book a hotel either for a night or an extended trip you will be faced with the decision of whether to book an independent hotel or whether to go for a chain of hotels such as Ramada, Ibis, Hilton or Marriot.

There are pros and cons with both but if you’re looking at a chain hotel then you’ll need to consider the following before making your choice:-

Pros – With chain hotels they are often all set out to a very similar standard, so if you visit a Ramada hotel in Leeds it’s likely to be similar to one in Bristol, this means that you know roughly what to expect.

Pricing is often also similar with premiums for places like London but generally a clear pricing structure with discounts available online.

Cons – You’re unlikely to get a personal service in a chain hotel as they are often large corporate businesses rather than small friendly family run hotels.

The hotel rooms are usually very uniform and therefore you are less likely to get the personal touches that make the accommodation more homely.
